Richard Grainger has worked as a teacher, personal trainer, professional rugby coach, restaurateur, reluctant wedding planner and journalist. He also emptied bins for Antrim Borough Council for three summers whilst a student.

His first book, The Last Latrine, is an account of his experiences in Nepal running the world’s highest marathon.

Losing The Plot is his first novel and his second, Saving Dave, was published in April.

He is currently working on The List, the sequel to Losing The Plot, which will be available in the spring of ’26.

Richard’s latest project is the memoir of his childhood and adolescence in strive-torn Northern Ireland, Sand in Strange Places. This is currently with his editor, and Richard is currently looking for the most appropriate published to take it on.

Richard divides his time between Marbella where he writes, and Wroclaw where he enjoys Polish beer and teaches English part-time.
